Prosecutors open disciplinary proceedings against Lutsenko, Matios for Facebook posts
A member of the qualification and disciplinary commission of prosecutors, Anatoliy Kovalenko, has opened disciplinary proceedings against Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoliy Matios after considering a disciplinary complaint from a number of citizens, the Ukrainska Pravda online news site has reported, referring to the respective decision of August 7.
According to the disciplinary complaint, Lutsenko and Matios posted messages in social networks (Facebook) that violate the presumption of innocence. In accordance with the law of Ukraine on the prosecutor's office, a public statement that violates the presumption of innocence serves as the basis for bringing a prosecutor to disciplinary liability.
The disciplinary complaint contains hyperlinks to respective posts published by the prosecutor general and the chief military prosecutor, which, in particular, disclose the names of suspects, detainees, and even passport data.
Earlier, the qualification and disciplinary commission of prosecutors opened disciplinary proceedings against Matios for using offensive language in a post on his Facebook page.
