Law on Donbas reintegration ready, except for item on peacekeepers

The law on the reintegration of Donbas has now been fully prepared, with the exception of the issue of introducing a peacekeeping mission to the region, the discussion of which is continuing, the representative of the president of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, MP of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction Iryna Lutsenko has stated.

"This bill, as I said, is 99% ready. The only thing that is now being discussed is the inclusion of peacekeepers or a peacekeeping mission in this bill ... and what the president of Ukraine will say in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he will go in the second half of September," Lutsenko said on the sidelines of the parliament.

"I think that after further consultations with our partners in the "Normandy Format" such a provision will be included in the treaty and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration, an additional discussion will be held in the Ukrainian parliament," she added.

She believes the bill will be finalized by the end of the month.

"I think this law will be submitted to the parliament by the beginning of October," she said.
