Ukrainian Armed Forces observing 'school season' ceasefire, calling on Russia to observe ceasefire commitments

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are observing ceasefire in Donbas announced in view of the start of the academic year and are helping to work to observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM), the General Staff of the Armed Forces has reported.

"In order to unconditionally observe the agreements reached during the Normandy format phone conversations, and create conditions for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to observe the announced ceasefire in connection with the start of the academic year," the General Staff said in a statement published on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

"At the same time, the ceasefire agreements in connection with the beginning of the academic year should also be observed by the Russian occupation troops," the General Staff said.

In addition, the report says that in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in Donetsk and Lugansk regions Ukrainian servicemen "comprehensively contribute to the work of OSCE observers."

As reported, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron called on Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to fulfill their Donbas ceasefire commitments in their joint statement on Monday.
