'Point of no return' not crossed yet despite economic growth in Ukraine

2 min read

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said Ukraine is demonstrating the economic growth but the point of no return hasn't been crossed yet.

"At last, after Russia's blocking the economic potential of Donbas and Crimea through the occupation, we've resumed the economic growth," Poroshenko said during a working visit to Kirovohrad region on Monday.

According to the president, "the worst times are behind". "The country has come through these trials, the Ukrainian people has demonstrated with dignity its ability to unite and oppose the aggressor, and to ensure the efficient development amidst the war. Unfortunately, I should note that in this matter we have not already crossed the point of no return," Poroshenko said.

According to him, everything can still be reversed either as a result of the escalation of the hostilities by Russia, as well as through the actions of populist politicians who "are destabilizing the situation inside the country and are capable of rendering all our efforts null and void."

"They [the populists] are capable of destroying everything that the people have fought for in the past few years, and they are doing everything to demoralize Ukrainians through shouting 'all is lost'," Poroshenko said adding that he will apply maximum efforts to prevent this scenario.
