Ukrainian PGO opens case involving incident with MP Melnychuk in Troeschyna District

Kyiv's Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has opened a criminal investigation involving Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada's member Serhiy Melnychuk (independent MP) in Kyiv's Troyeschyna District on August 15.

"Kyiv's PGO has opened a pretrial investigation into the deliberate obstruction of justice by a person occupying a responsible position, namely, MP Melnychuk, based on a court ruling ordering the removal of a kindergarten on Saburova St. in Troyeschyna...," the PGO's press service said.

During the conflict between supporters and opponents of evicting a kindergarten from its premises in Troyeschyna, shots were fired from firearms, no one was hurt, Oksana Blyschyk, head of the liaison department of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv, told Interfax-Ukraine on August 15.
