Yushcenko informs EU on fall in Russian transit gas deliveries to Ukraine by Gazprom
Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has sent telegrams to the leadership of the European Union and heads of European states that consume Russian natural gas, notifying them that Gazprom has cut transit gas supplies to Ukraine.
He said that as of 2300 on January 5, 2009, 262 million cubic meters of Russian gas was supplied, at 0900 on January 6 - 93 million cubic meters, and at 1130 on January 6 - 73 million cubic meters.
The president said that Russia plans to considerably cut or stop Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
"For your information, Ukraine consumes only the gas it produces itself and gas pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities, which has been paid for in full," he said.
