Poroshenko hails decision by EU ambassador to impose new sanctions against Russian over Siemens' turbines in Crimea

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has positively assessed the decision of EU envoys on new sanctions against Russia for supplying Ukraine's Crimea with turbines produced by the German Siemens company.

"Four more Russian individuals and three companies will be affected by the honest and just restrictive measures in response for their cynical and deliberate contract violations," Ukraine's head of state said on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Poroshenko said he believes "the Siemens precedent" must be punished so that similar violations do not occur in the future.

Germany earlier called on the EU to add four more Russian persons and companies to its sanctions list because of the illegal shipment of Siemens' turbines to occupied Crimea.
