Five Ukrainian servicemen killed, 8 wounded in Donbas in past 24 hours

Militant forces have attacked the Ukrainian army's positions in Donbas 29 times in the past 24 hours, during which five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and another eight wounded, the press center of the headquarters of Anti-Terrorist operation (ATO) said.

"In all, the adversary has opened fire on our positions 29 times over the past 24 hours. The Ukrainian armed forces returned fire 16 times. Unfortunately, five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and another eight have been wounded," the press center said on its Facebook.

Shelling attacks in the Donetsk sector intensified after 6:00 p.m. Militants forces shelled Ukrainian army positions near Avdiyivka four times from 7:00 p.m. to around 11:00 p.m., using 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms. The Ukrainian military returned fire in order to force the militant to stop the shelling. Mortars and grenade launchers also were used against Ukrainian army positions in the vicinity of the Butovka mine, killing one Ukrainian serviceman and wounding another one, the press center said.

In addition to that, Stanytsia Luhanska in the Luhansk sector and Vodiane in the Donetsk sector came under fire at around 10:00 p.m.
