Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office inquires into over UAH 100 mln embezzlement while building 'wall' on border with Russia

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office is investigating the embezzlement and misappropriation of budget resources in the amount of over UAH 100 million while performing operations for engineering and technical equipment of the Ukrainian-Russian state border (the 'Wall' project).

An embezzlement scheme with further misappropriation of gross budget resources in the procurements of goods and services in the interests of the Ukrainian State Border Service was uncovered jointly with the Ukrainian Security Service, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office press service said on Thursday.

Over UAH 100 million of budget resources have been embezzled and misappropriated as a result of illegal activity by Ukrainian State Border Service officials and economic entities in the private sector of economy, while fulfilling works for engineering and technical equipping of the Ukrainian-Russian border and the areas neighboring the anti-terrorist operation zone and Crimea (the 'Wall' project) in 2016-2017, the statement said.
