Court extends pretrial confinement for Nasirov

Kyiv's Solomiansky District Court has extended by two months pretrial confinement for the suspended head of Ukraine's State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov, who was released after posting UAH 100 million bail, the Kyiv-based Hromadske.tv news portal has reported.

The decision was handed down on Monday. Nasirov is under house arrest and is wearing an electronic bracelet.

"The motion filed by prosecutors was satisfied completely. Nasirov must fulfill all the obligations stipulated in his bail agreement," Hromadske.tv quoted prosecutor Andriy Perov as saying. He added that results of court ordered expert analysis of economic records are expected during the course of a week.

As earlier reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine suspects Nasirov of committing crimes pursuant to Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misuse of public office leading to serious consequences).

Kyiv's Solomiansky District Court on March 7 remanded Nasirov in custody for 60 days and set bail at UAH 100 million. Ukraine's Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), meanwhile, requested the court set bail at UAH 2 billion.

On March 16, SAPO said Nasirov and his wife had posted UAH 100 million bail.

On May 30, NABU turned down Nasirov's request to leave Ukraine for medical treatment.

Kyiv's District Solomiansky District Court on June 2 turned down a request by Nasirov to change the terms of his pretrial detention.

NABU detectives and SAPO agents filed a motion to recover UAH 100 million bail from Nasirov because he did not turn in his British passport. The court rejected the motion and its decision cannot be appealed.
