EU leaders agree to extend economic sanctions against Russia for half a year

European Council President Donald Tusk announced on Thursday that the EU leaders agreed to extend economic sanctions against Russia for another half a year.

"Agreed. EU will extend economic sanctions against Russia for their lack of implementing the Minsk Agreement," Tusk said on Twitter.

The effect of the EU's sectoral sanctions against Russia related to the events in Ukraine would normally expire on July 31. It was reported earlier that the summit planned for June 22-23 recommended extending the economic sanctions against Russia, which the EU ties to the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
