Sanctions against Russia to be discussed at EU permanent reps level

The issue of extending the EU sanctions against Russia will be discussed by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU member states, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Thursday.

The issue of sanctions is not on currently on the agenda, it will be discussed at the ambassadorial level, he said.

The EU's sectoral sanctions on Russia expire on July 31. Earlier, it was reported that the EU summit on June 22-23 intends to recommend extending economic sanctions against Russia, which are linked to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. At the same time, according to a senior EU official, the heads of states and governments will assess the progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
