Trilateral Contact Group's Minsk meeting to verify captives' lists was substantive, held in atmosphere of mutual trust - Sajdik

The special representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the Trilateral Contact Group, Martin Sajdik, said he is satisfied with the work done by the group to verify the lists of captives in Donbas.

It is a difficult process, Sajdik said after the group's meeting in Minsk on Wednesday, adding he liked the fact that this issue was discussed in detail and in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and mutual trust during the group's meeting.

The humanitarian subgroup said that a great deal had been done since the previous meeting, he said. In particular, additional interviews were conducted among people who expressed their willingness to stay in territories where they had been held in detention following their release, Sajdik said.

Sajdik also said that he understood relatives who would like to know an exact timeline for an all for all exchange of captives.

Steps are being taken today that are needed to achieve this goal, and it is possible to say that there is clarity now as to who can be exchanged and who can be released, he said.
