Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will hold negotiations at the U.S. Department of Defense and will meet with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during his ongoing working visit to Washington, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said.

"We've had absolutely full-format half-hour negotiations with the president of the United States, and we've had negotiations with the vice president. Moreover, the process is continuing: following the interview, we are going to the Pentagon with the president. And a meeting with State Secretary Tillerson is also planned today. That is, this is an absolutely successful visit of the Ukrainian president, a timely and very substantive one," Chaly said on the 112.Ukraine television channel on Tuesday, following Poroshenko's meeting with Trump.

The ambassador said he could not make public all details of this meeting but said the two leaders had extensively discussed some issues important to the two countries.

"The conversation was very detailed, I can even say that the president presented some materials, maps, pictures, and so on," Chaly said. "This is a sign that President Trump focuses on this issue, the world, primarily on how to reinstate clear international order in Europe. In particular - and this is what counts most - support of our country in opposing Russia," Chaly said.
