Militants conducted 50 attacks on Ukrainian army positions on Thursday, killing one serviceman, the press service of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) headquarters reported.

"Nine instances of the enemy's use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements were observed, and the occupation forces twice opened fire on residential areas in the frontline populated localities... A hostile attack inflicted lethal injuries on one Ukrainian soldier yesterday; unfortunately, he passed away," the ATO HQ said on Facebook on Friday morning.

The HQ reported 24 attacks in the Mariupol sector. Residential areas of Maryinka came under rocket launcher fire on Thursday morning. A number of houses sustained tangible damage, but there were no civilian casualties, it said.

The same sector was seeing 120mm mortar fire in the vicinity of Maryinka, Pavlopil, Shyrokyne and Vodiane during the day, while 82mm mortars were used near Krasnohorivka and Talakivka, the staff said. A number of armed provocations were staged near Hnutove, Lebedynske, Chermalyk and Novomykhailivka, where Ukrainian strongholds repeatedly came under fire of grenade launchers, heavy machineguns and small arms with a varying degree of intensity.

Thirteen attacks were mounted on Ukrainian army positions in the Donetsk sector, the staff said.

Ukrainian army positions were shelled by 122mm artillery near the town of Pivdenne from the side of a Horlivka suburb. At the same time, the hostiles were intensively bombing Ukrainian army strongholds near Kamianka, using tanks and 120mm mortars. The same type of mortars shelled Ukrainian defense lines near Pisky in the Donetsk airport direction in the evening.

Tensions were the highest in the evening in the southern and northeastern suburbs of Avdiyivka, where Ukrainian army positions came under fire of 82mm mortars and infantry weapons, the staff said.

Thirteen armed provocations were seen in the Luhansk sector, the staff said. For instance, several mortar shells were fired on Ukrainian positions near Katerynivka late at night. The area of Schastia and Krymske saw 82mm mortar attacks. Three mortar shells were fired directly on a residential area of Schastia. None of the local civilians was hurt. Information about possible damage is being verified.

Besides, various types of grenade launchers and small arms were engaged in the attacks on Ukrainian army positions near Novozvanivka, Malynove, Donets, Valuiske, Novooleksandrivka, Stanytsia Luhanska and Popasna, the staff said.
