EU expects Association Agreement with Ukraine to enter into full force on Sept 1

The European Union expects that the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will come into force in full on September 1, 2017.

"The process of ratification of the agreement is virtually over. All 28 EU countries have ratified it. Starting from September 1, the agreement will reach the implementation stage," Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli told reporters in Kyiv on Monday, responding to a question from Interfax-Ukraine.

He pointed out that this document is very important, as it will promote the policy of association and integration of the Ukrainian economy into the European market.

As of today, all EU member states have ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

At the same time, several formalities still remain to be done. In particular, the Netherlands should send the ratification instruments to the EU, after which the EU Council should finally announce the completion of all formalities in the ratification process. The Agreement will then enter into force the first day of the second month following the date of deposit of the last instrument of ratification or approval.
