Klitschko says he sent NABU all required information about his property, assets

Kyiv Mayor and head of Kyiv City State Administration Vitali Klitschko has said he long ago declared to the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) all property, according to the law, and information and explanations.

"About 'revelations' concerning an alleged probe into allegedly undeclared houses belonging to me… Is NABU checking my [asset] declaration? Yes, it is. This is their job to check information, including inquiries from non-governmental organizations, parliament members or journalists. To check information even when there is no case and when they are made to do it again … I sent NABU all the relevant information long ago," Klitschko said on his Facebook page.

Kyiv's mayor said he had declared everything that belongs to him honestly and in accordance with the law.

"Is someone interested in the houses? I also talked about them belonging to companies of my brother. How did my brother and I earn money? The whole world knows how. Therefore, friends, don't look for a black cat in a dark room," Klitschko said.

On June 8, Radio Free Liberty/Radio Europe, citing a response from NABU to NGO Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC), reported NABU agents had registered a criminal case involving the possible incorrect reporting of information (Article 366-1 of Ukraine's Criminal Code) by Kyiv's mayor.

"The criminal case, which involves undeclared property in Hamburg and Los Angeles not entered in the Klitschko family's e-declaration, was opened after an inquiry filed by lawyers from NGO AntAC," it reported.
