Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov noted the importance of a balanced, impartial and responsible attitude to informing the society on the occasion of the Day of the Journalist, the press service of the National Security and Defense Council said.

"The best counteraction to Russian information aggression is the truth. Therefore professional, unbiased, objective and principled coverage of events in Ukraine and the world is extremely important both for the country itself and for the formation of our country's image abroad," Turchynov said.

He also said that the assessments and comments of journalists influence the adoption of state decisions, form public opinion and "life often depends on your word."

"It's you, each of you - chroniclers of the newest history of Ukraine, you even often create it," the NSDC secretary said.
