Republican Party of Armenia declares its victory at elections

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has declared its victory at the April 2 parliamentary elections.

"We can announce that it is a victory," Republican Party Deputy Chairman Armen Ashotyan said at a news briefing.

"These elections also became a victory for the public and all of the political forces, because they passed in an atmosphere of implementing the reforms, which are aimed at building a more democratic Armenia," Ashotyan said.

Armenia will become stronger and more democratic beginning from April 3, he said. "We are contented with the work of the relevant state bodies," he said.

The exit poll findings also indicated that the Republican Party of Armenia is leading at the elections.

The Armenian president-led Republican Party has mustered 46% of the vote, according to the findings of an exit poll, which Gallup International Association has carried out among voters leaving the polling stations.

The 'Tsarukyan' Bloc led by one of the largest business captains and Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan is running second with 25% of the vote.
