Ukrainian journalist Tsymbaliuk says he released from Moscow police station

Correspondent of the Ukrainian-based information agency UNIAN Roman Tsymbaliuk, who has earlier been detained by police in Moscow, has reported about his release.

"Thanks to everyone who was worried, we have been released," Tsymbaliuk wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday evening, posting a selfie against the background of the police station's entrance.

"For the first time in 36 years I have been arrested by police. Not drunken," the journalist added.

Earlier reports said about Tsymbaliuk's detention in Moscow. His documents were seized. "We were detained, taken to a local police station to check if video filming [of an interview in Moscow] was 'legal.' For the first time [I'm] in a police car:) Accreditation from the Russian Foreign Ministry did not work. They claim we were shouting slogans and maybe holding a 'rally,'" he wrote.

He later wrote on Facebook: "[I've been] at the police station for two hours already, [they] must release [me] in an hour."

As was reported, Ukraine's Embassy in Russia confirmed Tsymbaliuk's apprehension in Moscow. The consul went to the police station to check and verify information about his detention. The embassy also contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
