'Normandy Four' to remain core in Donbas conflict settlement, meeting of "senior officials" in Paris on March 24

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko is sure that the 'Normandy format' will remain the main one in the issue of the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas.

"We are going to meet on March 24 and I will be in Paris for this very meeting, at which the progress of Minsk will be considered. As you see, there is not much progress, in particular, we will be able to consider other proposals ... I predict that the core of this process will remain the 'Normandy Four," Prystaiko said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Monday.

He also informed that the meeting will take place in the 'Normandy format' at the level of "senior officials" in Paris on Friday, March 24.

"I will be in Paris on March 24 at a meeting of the 'Normandy Four' in a format that I represent on the part of the Ukrainian side in so-called senior officials format," Prystaiko said.

He stressed that Ukraine is grateful to other countries that take the initiative to help Ukraine. At the same time, the deputy minister noted the significant contribution to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas by the partners of Ukraine in the 'Normandy format', namely Germany and France: "These countries have invested so much politically, especially our partners Germany and France, that they expect this work to be continued, as they are the core of the 'Normandy format.'

As reported, on March 1, during the visit of foreign ministers of Poland and Britain, Witold Waszczykowski and Boris Johnson to Kyiv, the Ukrainian side was offered an alternative version of the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas. Waszczykowski noted that the British and Polish sides had taken the initiative, but the decision on the best option for resolving the conflict in Donbas remains with the Ukrainian authorities.
