It is wrong to ignore unified state policy – Chubarov on Savchenko's visit to Donbas

Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) Refat Chubarov has criticized the recent trip of parliament deputy Nadezhda Savchenko to occupied Donetsk, saying he is against attempts to fracture unified state policy into pieces.

"It is wrong to break up the unified state policy into pieces, and this goes for parliament deputies, as well. I regard these kinds of initiatives very negatively," Chubarov told journalists before the opening of the international conference, titled "Crimea under occupation: repercussions for Ukraine and the world," which began in Kyiv on Saturday.

The Mejlis chairman said there were precedents in history when lawmakers during war were forbidden to enter into negotiations with representatives of the enemy without first coordinating their activities with state policy, even to solve humanitarian issues.

As earlier reported, on February 24, a representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic said Savchenko had visited Donetsk in order to meet with captured Ukrainian soldiers.

Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction deputy Tetiana Rychkova said Savchenko met with Ukrainian soldiers to urge them to revolt against Ukraine's current authorities and called on Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office and Ukraine's SBU Security Service to investigate.
