Three parliamentary factions, public members sign Solidarity Declaration

Factions of the Verkhovna Rada, including People's Front, Petro Poroshenko Bloc and the Radical Party of Oleh Liashko, as well as members of the public, have signed a declaration of commitment to the principles of the Revolution of Dignity and uniting around common values.

"We reaffirm our commitment to the principles of the Revolution of Dignity and undertake to observe them in our daily political activities. For the sake of Ukraine's statehood, we are ready to unite around common values and discard petty political differences," the declaration of a national "round table" titled "Unity for the sake of victory," which was posted on Monday, says.

The document says political fragmentation of the Ukrainian elites in the past resulted in the loss of statehood and approval of rigid authoritarian and totalitarian regimes in Ukraine. The greatest misfortune was brought by regimes supported by Russia.

"Today Russia is again seeking to subjugate Ukraine and resorts for these purposes not only to direct military intervention, but also with attempts to split Ukraine from the inside, destabilize its political system and make Ukrainian elites argue with one another," the declaration says.

As an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports, in the course of the "round table" the Declaration was signed by the following parliamentarians: People's Front faction leader Maksym Burbak, leader of the Radical Party Oleh Liashko, representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada Artur Gerasymov (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction), former Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Kvit, a figure of the Ukrainian Jewish movement, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union Joseph Zissels, as well as the deputy head of the NGO "Vilni Liudy" (Free people) Serhiy Kuzan.

As Kvit noted, the representatives of the Batkivschyna faction and Samopomich faction, which did not take part in the "round table," will be asked to sign this very declaration.
