Rada adopts in first reading draft law on changes in Code of Criminal Procedure concerning conviction in absentia

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has supported the first reading of a draft law on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, which will allow in a short time to complete investigation and submit to the court the case of ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his supporters (No. 5610).

The draft resolution was supported by 233 people's deputies of Ukraine in the morning session on Thursday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

The bill was introduced by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko. Profile Committee recommended adopting the bill as the basis one to mark up it within two weeks.
