Russia trying to destabilize situation in Ukraine, escape responsibility for its actions in Donbas – Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that Russia continues its attempts to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.

"This year marks three years since Russia has launched a real war against our country. It is a war, where 10,000 Ukrainians - civil and military – have been killed. And this war continues today," he said during a joint briefing with the U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden in Kyiv on Monday.

According to him, over the past three days, the Ukrainian military were fired more than 250 times. "Ukraine is aware that we are not the only enemy of Moscow. All, who profess democratic values, are the enemies of the Kremlin. That is why Ukraine's protection today is the protection of the values of free world," Poroshenko said.

The president of Ukraine noted that Russia is trying to avoid responsibility and working to destabilize the internal situation in Ukraine, as well as to split transatlantic and European unity.

"We are able to oppose these plans, primarily by launching the 'road map' of implementation of the Minsk agreements and the continuation of successful internal reforms," he said.
