The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) have agreed on opening a UNOPS Office in Ukraine.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, a relevant agreement was signed by Ukraine's Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Vadym Chernysh and UN Under Secretary General, UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo.

"The signing of the contract is only the beginning and we are looking forward to strengthening our cooperation," Faremo said during the signing ceremony.

The launch of the UNOPS office in Ukraine will create the necessary legal basis for attracting foreign direct investment and grant funds, contribute to the implementation of investment projects.

It is planned within the agreement to use UNOPS international experience in building civilian infrastructure objects, implementing investment projects and providing procurement services.

Faremo visited Ukraine in May this year.
