Delay in response mechanism to migration risks shows EU's institutional weakness – Klimkin

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has said that the delay in resolving the issue by the European Union to respond to the risks of migration shows the institutional weakness of Brussels.

"A significant delay in the coordinating the response mechanism of migration risks shows the institutional weakness of the EU. It seems Brussels realizes it," Klimkin said on his Twitter page on Thursday.

As reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday, November 24 at a joint press conference with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Martin Schulz and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, following the results of the EU-Ukraine summit, said that Ukraine asks the European partners to fulfill their commitments concerning the introduction of a visa-free regime.

In turn, European Council President Donald Tusk said that the completion of the negotiation process regarding the response mechanism to migration risks in the EU will be completed before the end of 2016.

But Jean-Claude Juncker said that the issue of responding to migration crisis in the EU had already been raised with the French and German leaders.
