Ukraine preparing lawsuit against Russia over illicit deposit extraction in Black Sea

Ukraine is preparing a lawsuit to the international court against Russia over extraction of deposits in the territorial waters of the Ukrainian state, Ukrainian Deputy Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Heorhiy Tuka has said.

"The recent case with the Ukrainian coast guard motor boat attacked by Russian planes – we have initiated this to get facts and prove the fact of illicit production of deposits in the territorial waters of Ukraine. After receiving these evidences, the Justice Ministry and Foreign Ministry are preparing a lawsuit against Russia," Tuka said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

He did not specify what sum is claimed in the lawsuit, saying only that this is a figure with nine nulls.

He said that many state-owned pieces of art and artifacts were left on the occupied territories of Crimea.

"Unfortunately, we have information that our cultural possessions have been moved to Russia," he said.
