Poroshenko, Erdogan agree to step up on FTA, discuss procedure for further ties at highest level

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of a telephone conversation have agreed to step up negotiations on a free trade area (FTA), and discussed the procedure for further ties at the highest level, the press service of the Ukrainian state’s head said.

Poroshenko informed the Turkish leader on increasing the period of visa-free stay from 60 to 90 days during the 180-day period for Turkish citizens on the territory of Ukraine. A similar decision the Turkish government earlier adopted with regard to Ukrainian citizens. Poroshenko called it an important step in the development of interpersonal relations and economic ties between the two countries.

The two sides condemned the human rights violations in the occupied by Russia Crimea. President Erdogan once again stressed he doesn’t recognize the results of Russian parliamentary elections in the occupied peninsula.
