During a three-hour meeting with representatives of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, the parties discussed crimes against protesters in Kyiv center in February 2014, and Russia's military aggression in Donbas and Crimea, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.

"We came to a consensus that crimes on the Maidan are part of a chain of crimes that led to the aggression by Russia and Russia-backed separatists in Ukraine," Lutsenko wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.

According to the prosecutor general, Ukrainian officials briefed the delegates of the ICC Office of the Prosecutor about the actions of Russian political and military leaders regarding Ukraine, which should be qualified as crimes against humanity and war crimes.

"We have agreed to step up cooperation not only in the exchange of information, but also to admit ICC representatives to the PGO's materials on the crimes committed against peaceful protesters during the Revolution of Dignity, as well as the crimes related to the Russian military aggression in Ukraine's east and Crimea," Lutsenko said.

As reported, on Sept 2, Lutsenko said that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies cooperate with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague on the matter of bringing to justice the Russian leadership and top military officials for unleashing war in Donbas and the occupation of Crimea.

On October 25, Ukraine's prosecutor general did not rule out the transfer of cases on the crimes against Euromaidan activists to the ICC.
