The net purchase of foreign currency by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) since the beginning of 2016 amounted to about $1.6 billion, Head of the NBU Valeriya Gontareva has said.

"From the beginning of the year in the course of foreign exchange interventions the National Bank's net purchase of foreign currency amounted to almost $1.6 billion," she said at a briefing.

According to her, the NBU has bought $273 million at 11 foreign exchange auctions since late September.
