Kyiv calls for humanitarian group meeting on Donbas as soon as possible

Ukraine sees no reason for a pause until November 9 in the work of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk and insists on their meeting in the very near future, Ukraine's representative in the subgroup and parliamentary first deputy speaker Iryna Gerashchenko said.

"The Ukrainian side considers the pause in the humanitarian subgroup until November 9 to be unmotivated, especially in the context of Normandy-format meetings where at Ukraine's insistence the humanitarian problem was named as one of the priorities," Gerashchenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

The parties should "get together as quickly as possible and work on the implementation of the Normandy-format decisions," she said.

On October 24, Denis Pushilin, representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, said that because of Ukraine the Contact Group will be meeting in Minsk on October 26 without its humanitarian subgroup.

"Because of the Ukrainian side, the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup in Minsk on October 26 will not be taking place. There were multiple reschedulings on the Ukrainian part and no consensus reached as a result. The subgroup's next meeting is only due on November 9," he said.
