Poroshenko says he didn’t raise his voice, but urged Putin to stop shooting in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has confirmed that during the Normandy Four meeting in Berlin he urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop shooting in the Ukrainian Donbas.

"I never raise my voice during talks. But regarding the request to stop shooting – indeed, I addressed such a request to Putin," Poroshenko said in the illustrated Sunday night interview to Ukrainian TV channels, responding to a question whether he raised his voice against the Russian president.

He noted the importance of the fact that the "Normandy Four" negotiations took place for the first time a year after the Paris meeting. "Nothing has been done during a year, and Ukraine pays a very high price for the continuation of armed conflict," the head of state said.

Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian side during the talks proposed to develop a document that would include when and who should implement the specific positions of the Minsk agreements.

"Without this, I see no progress. This is called the 'road map.' And if half a year ago everyone refused from the 'road map,' I said we will not move until a clear 'road map' is developed, which will include two components - the consistency and responsibility. Finally, the Ukrainian position was accepted," he said.

In addition, according to the president, Ukraine insisted on the need for the introduction of the armed OSCE mission in Donbas, which would control the security situation.
