Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko intends to legislate independence of the head of the general inspectorate of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) so that even the prosecutor general could not influence his activities.

"I am ready to initiate changes to the law in the Verkhovna Rada, according to which the general inspectorate head will not coordinate his actions even with the prosecutor general," Lutsenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.

He explained the general inspectorate chief, according to current legislation, should sign documents in the presence of the prosecutor general.

"To eliminate this, probably, subjective factor, I am ready to submit to parliament amendments to the law, under which the general inspectorate head will independently make any procedural decision," Lutsenko said.
