Polish Sejm supports memory and solidarity declaration passed by Verkhovna Rada

Polish Sejm voted on Thursday for the memory and solidarity declaration on the events of World War II and the current Russian aggression against Ukraine, which was earlier adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the same day.

"The Polish Sejm has just voted for this declaration. I congratulate our Polish colleagues on this decision," Chairman of the Ukrainian parliament Andriy Parubiy said on his Facebook page on Thursday night.

He recalled that during his summer visit to Poland he proposed to return to the practice of giving a joint assessment of our common history.

"This declaration is an example of a joint assessment of the history of our peoples when we focus not on the consequences, but namely on the reasons, which led to the tragic events on our lands. Our declaration is the answer to the newly imperial Putin's invasion. It is the answer to the Russian aggression against Ukraine, aggression against the whole free world," the speaker said.

As previously reported, on Thursday the Verkhovna Rada adopted a declaration of memory and solidarity of the Polish Sejm and the Verkhovna Rada on the events of World War II and the current aggression of Russia against Ukraine.
