Roadmap for Ukraine outlined in Berlin requires coordination - Merkel

A roadmap for implementing the Minsk agreements for Ukraine was outlined during the 'Normandy Four' meeting in Berlin, but this document requires further coordination, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a press conference after the talks.

"We discussed the working process, which is of a multilateral nature. It should become a starting point for further work on issues such as ensuring security, a political process and the drafting of plans to put these steps into practice," she said.

The Minsk deal itself does not add certainty to these issues, a circumstance that stands behind "differences in political understanding," she said.

Merkel also called an agreement to draw up a more detailed roadmap a success of the meeting.

French President Francois Hollande, for his part, said that the foreign ministers of the 'Normandy Four' countries had been instructed to draft a more detailed roadmap for a settlement process in Ukraine. The "main task" will be preparations for the elections in Donbas, he said.
