NATO positively assesses progress in judicial reform, fight against corruption in Ukraine

Ukrainian Deputy Justice Minister on European Integration Serhiy Petukhov has visited NATO Headquarters with a working visit, during which he discussed implementation of judicial reform and the fight against corruption in the country with representatives of the Alliance.

As reported on the site of Mission of Ukraine to NATO on Tuesday, during the visit the deputy minister attended a meeting of NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of the Political and Partnerships Committee (PPC), and also met with NATO Assistant Legal Adviser Eddy Groenen.

"In the course of events Petukhov informed NATO and allies on the progress and the first tangible results of the judicial reform in Ukraine, as well as on the implementation of anti-corruption reforms, aimed at authorities’ cleanup and the establishment of a transparent and effective system of control over the activities of the authorities, including through mechanisms of electronic declaration of assets of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC), the creation of a unified register of property and other activities aimed at improving the work of state power bodies of Ukraine," the statement reads.

The Mission of Ukraine to NATO said that the allies welcomed the Ukrainian government's efforts in this regard, called for the determined pursuit of reforms, and expressed their willingness to continue providing the maximum possible assistance to Ukraine, especially in the framework of the Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine approved at the Warsaw NATO Summit and in the implementation of annual national programs.
