Ukrainian paratroopers to go for training in Lithuania

Members of the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will take part in tactical exercises Flaming Thunder 2016, which will be held in Lithuania on August 1-12.

The artillery maneuvers will take place at the training center of the Lithuanian armed forces near the city of Pabrade, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday.

"Today, on July 30, a mortar platoon of the 80th Air Assault Brigade will leave abroad to participate in the command and staff phase of the training," the report says.

The multi-national event is aimed at improving practical skills of personnel in the joint performance of tasks and increase the level of interoperability between the military of various countries.

Ukrainian paratroopers will be able to exchange their experiences with the military from the U.S., Germany, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal. More than 1,100 servicemen will take part in the training.
