Fighting impedes repairs to ruined infrastructure in Donbas

Fighting does not allow repairs to infrastructure in Donbas that has been destroyed and ruined by war, Darka Olifer, the press secretary of the Ukrainian representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kuchma, has said.

According to her, this issue was discussed at a meeting of the economic subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, which was held in Minsk on Wednesday. "We have to again repair the facilities that have already been rebuilt before, such as railways between the stations of Mykytivka and Mayorsk. Repair crews can work only after demining," she wrote on Facebook.

"Until a number of questions related to safety are not solved, it will be impossible to move forward in resolving the political, humanitarian, social and economic problems," she wrote.

The Ukrainian side stressed at the meeting of the economic subgroup in Minsk on Wednesday that it is inadmissible to form the so-called quasi-regulatory base, primarily for taxation, and to illegally collect taxes and fees from economic entities that are based in areas that are not controlled by Ukraine, she added.
