A shipment of drones worth more than $12 million has arrived from the U.S., the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.

"Within the framework of the Initiative of Restoration Trust in Europe program, the U.S. Department of Defense has transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine a considerable number of the most advanced unmanned drones, RQ-11B Analog Raven Systems, worth more than $12 million," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on its Facebook page.

The note says the assistance is non-lethal, as the UAVs are not equipped with weapons.

"RQ-11 Raven is a reconnaissance drone, which weighs less than 2 kg with an installed digital camera that operates at night or during the day. This type of drone can be launched and landed easily. The radius of operation is 10 km," the report says.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt last week said the U.S. will continue boosting Ukraine's security and defense. Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is one of the U.S. foreign policy priorities for the mid-term and long term prospective.
