Kyiv court orders arrest of ex PGO head's art collection

Kyiv's Pechersky District Court, based on evidence provided by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO), has ordered the confiscation of art works collected by former PGO chief Viktor Pshonka, which are currently stored in Ukraine's National Art Museum in 2014.

The July 21, 2016 ruling to fulfill the request from the PGO's special investigations bureau has been entered in the unified registrar of court decisions.

The court ruling lists a number of historical, cultural and valuable artifacts currently stored in Ukraine's National Art Museum. Among them are icons from the XIX-XXI century, paintings, decorative vases, watches, souvenirs and books.

Serhiy Horbatiuk, who heads the PGO's special investigations bureau, told Interfax-Ukraine that the property belongs to former PGO head Viktor Pshonka.
