Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has arrived in Warsaw, Poland, to take part in a NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting and hold a series of meetings with foreign partners.

The Ukrainian president is due to have bilateral meetings with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, British Prime Minister David Cameron and a number of other foreign leaders.

Poroshenko is also expected to speak with U.S. President Barack Obama.

The Ukrainian president will partake in a NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting on July 9; the Commission is due to release a joint statement and to approve a comprehensive plan of assistance to Ukraine. Sources told Interfax-Ukraine that the document would contain several provisions strengthening Ukrainian defense and security.

Trust funds for Ukraine, which are tasked with bolstering its security, will be on the table, as well.

In addition, the Ukrainian president will attend a meeting of NATO leaders on Afghanistan. He will make an appearance at the G5+Ukraine meeting, which will highlight the Donbas situation and the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The G5+Ukraine meeting will gather Poroshenko, Obama, Cameron, as well as President of France Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Poroshenko is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, namely Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Finnish President Sauli Niinisto.

After the NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting, Poroshenko and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will give a joint press conference.
