Head of Ukraine's coal miners trade union tells EC, EP representatives about problems
Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Coal Miners of Ukraine Mikhailo Volynets during Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Brussels briefed representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament about the difficult situation with Ukrainian miners.
"I briefed representatives of the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Commission and the European Parliament that salaries are not paid on time in Ukraine and citizens have no choice but to resort to protests to protect their rights. I also said leaders of local and central branches of the Independent Trade Union of Coal Miners of Ukraine of the state-run company Selydivvuhillia have gone on hunger strike," Volynets said on the Facebook page on Monday.
According to him, representatives of these European institutions promised to take every possible step to address this situation.
