Some 68 U.S. Peace Corps volunteers take oath in Ukraine

Some 68 U.S. Peace Corps volunteers, who passed three-month training in the towns and villages of Chernihiv region, have taken oath in Ukraine.

Director of the Peace Corps in Ukraine Denny Robertson said the U.S. volunteers would go to various towns in western and central Ukraine from Zakarpattia to Poltava region, where they will work on the programs of teaching English as a foreign language, community development and youth development. The term of their work in Ukraine is two years.

This is the 49th group operating in Ukraine and the second group of volunteers composed after an interruption due to the events of Euromaidan. The previous batch of volunteers graduated on December 22, 2015, when 55 American volunteers took the oath.

The total number of U.S. Peace Corps volunteers in Ukraine is 150 persons, while more 100 will arrive in Ukraine in September.
