Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has told about the functions of the international OSCE police mission if it is introduced in Donbas.

"The introduction of the armed international OSCE police mission, which will control the collision line, arms withdrawal to the Russian Federation and will place its permanent patrols at all checkpoints, will prevent the arrival of new divisions of Russian troops, supply of ammunition, weapons, return of mercenaries," he said at the events dedicated to the Day of Border Guard of Ukraine.

Poroshenko also raised the issue of elections in Donbas if proper security conditions are provided.

"Only then, according to Ukrainian legislation, with international observers, with the participation of Ukrainian political parties, candidates, proper security measures for everyone who will take part in the campaign and who will vote, with the admission of Ukrainian mass media, we will hold elections, which will comply with OSCE standards. There will be nothing else," the president stressed.

In addition, Poroshenko welcomed the G7 decision to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation made at the summit in Japan.
