Groysman insists on passing bill on farmland turnover

The adoption of the draft law on agricultural land turnover is one of the key tasks of the government for the current year.

"We need to pass the bill on agricultural land turnover," Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a meeting with industrialists in Kyiv.

According to Groysman, in general Ukraine has about 41.6 million hectares of farmland, of which 30.8 million hectares are privately owned, while about 10.5 million hectares are held by the state.

The main task of the Cabinet of Ministers in the land sector is settlement of land issues with an unclear legal status (field roads, shelterbelts, collective property, and others), as well as the problems of escheat inheritance, introduction of turnover of long-term lease rights, their sale and collateral.

As reported in February 2016, with reference to Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre contains 99% of information on agricultural land.
