Ukrainian singer Jamala reaches final of 2016 Eurovision Song Contest

Ukrainian singer Jamala has reached the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm following the outcome of jury votes and audience's SMS-voting in the second semifinal.

The singer performed with a song "1944" that tells a story about deportation of Crimean Tatars on the peninsula in 1944.

Besides, singers from Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Australia, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belgium also got through to the final round.

The first semifinal of Eurovision 2016 launched on May 10 on the Ericsson Globe indoor arena in Stockholm, the second semifinal was on May 12. The final part of the contest will take place on May 14.

In 2015, Ukraine didn't participate in the Eurovision.
