Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at a meeting with leading Japanese companies in Tokyo invited them to take part in the privatization of ports and energy facilities in Ukraine, Poroshenko's spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

"Poroshenko invited Japanese companies to take part in the privatization of Ukrainian ports and energy [facilities]," the statement reads.

The Ukrainian president thanked the electrical equipment manufacturer Fujikura and other corporations for their investment in Ukraine. In turn, Fujikura encouraged other Japanese companies to go to the Ukrainian market.

In addition, the president's press secretary said that Ukrainian exports grew by 12% to Japan last year.
