Ukrainian army positions came under 55 attacks in Donbas in the past 24 hours, the anti-terrorist operation press center wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

The press center reported an increase in the number of mortar shelling incidents.

Intense gunfire on Ukrainian positions in Mayorsk and Zaytseve resumed after dusk by use of grenade launchers and 120mm mortars, the report said.

Ukrainian strongholds in Pisky, Opytne and Avdiyivka near Donetsk were attacked by grenade launchers, small arms and 82mm mortars. The staff observed sniper activity in the Maryinka area.

In addition, Ukrainian strongholds were attacked by mortars and large-caliber machineguns in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka, the staff press center said.
