Yatseniuk wants all economic crimes to be investigated by one agency

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk stresses the need to distribute investigative jurisdiction among the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies so that economic crimes could be investigated by one agency.

"I think we should talk about investigative jurisdiction as part of our broader debates, because many law enforcement agencies have duplicating functions... everybody's business is nobody's business," he said at a meeting with heads of the law enforcement agencies on anti-corruption investigations in Kyiv on Thursday.

Addressing Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Yatseniuk said: "About a dozen different agencies have been created, and as far as I know, Arsen Borysovych, your agency [the National Police] is ready to give up some of the functions such as the fight against economic crimes that will be transferred to one agency."

Interior Minister Avakov nodded in agreement.
